I’m a journalist based in Kodiak, Alaska, where I currently report on Alaska’s fisheries for Undercurrent News. Before that, I was the news director at public radio station KMXT.
My reporting has been featured on KUNC’s Colorado Edition, Alaska Public Media’s Alaska News Nightly and the Alaska Economic Report, WBUR’s Here & Now, Science Friday and NPR. My work has also appeared on Alaska Insight, the PBS Newshour and as part of a climate change reporting project for the PBS science show NOVA.
I came from print before I discovered the magic of radio, and also have experience as the former digital editor of Vail-Beaver Creek Magazine. As a freelancer, I’ve been published in 5280 Magazine, Elevation Outdoors, Forbes Travel Guide, Backpacker Magazine, and Aspen Sojourner.
Before I decided to get serious (sort of) and pursue journalism full-time, I lived in New Zealand and backpacked through Southeast Asia. In a former life, I was the Silverton Alpine Marathon’s first female finisher in 2014 (seriously, I have the trophy to prove it), but now I prefer racing my dogs around the trails near my house.
